It was about a 4 hour drive to get there and really, the main reason of this road trip was to visit the Wichita Wildlife Refuge - as I love the outdoors. We arrived in Oklahoma, hungry and pining for food and The Old Plantation Restaurant looked cozy and welcoming as ever. Keeping in mind, it was snowing non-stop on the way there and we weren't quite quipped with the gear to withstand the weather. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by our waitress who sat us down promptly. I love the decor of this place, very cozy and rustic. Has a cabin-feel to it so all I wanted to do once walking in was to sip some hot chocolate and sit by the fire. There's a guestbook by the front to sign in and write where you've traveled from. It was neat-o! My friend and I have small appetites and have learnt from past mistakes that are eyes are always bigger than our stomachs, thus this time... we decided to order 1 burger with fries and share it. The burger was absolutely delicious and the burger buns were melt in your mouth soft. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in this neck of the woods, cozy-licious!

Adam was ready to take our order soon as we sat down. Good food. Large portions and i was the only one who could really finish. Helpful staff as they knew we were new to the area and put us on track for great sightseeing. Thanks to the staff, me and my family will be back again and again.

Atmospher is decent, it's quiet, and the food is better than average, slightly. Price is mid their but you don't really get the quality you would expect.

Very good casual meal. Loaded mashed potatoes were awesome! Plus, the don't give you grief for asking for A-1 sauce which is always a big deal for me...but the filet would have been great even w/o it.

After a long ride out to the middle of BFE I found this place to eat. Walking in leaves you somewhat confused. There is tons of space that has no tables, but they were busy as could be. After being told that there was a 30minute wait we found ourselves in a section where they only serve drinks. I had the brisket sammich and sweet potatoes fries.....I never got my sweet potato fries. I instead was given regular fries. Now it's not a big deal, it's my fault I didn't speak up when I first got them, but the truth is I had already ate half of them when I realized I didn't get what I ordered. The brisket sammich was a mammoth!!! This thing was loaded down with meat, very very pleasing!!! Tender, moist and savory are a few words that come to mind and the BBQ sauce complimented it quite well. Not only that, but the bun it came on was "fancy". Everyone else seemed to enjoy what they ordered, but they weren't super impressed like I was so I plan on coming back to try something different. Service was great with zero problems. With my friends saying that everything else was ok, I really would like to come back again. I think this is a place that could get three stars, but everything I had was in the four range. I still can't figure out why they had so much wasted space, but my guess is they open it up to dancing at night! I look forward to going back!

The burger I had here was one of the best in recent memory. On a sort of sweet bun cooked absolutely perfect MR. I always order MR in the hopes I'll get at least a Med. 9/10 times I wind up with MW. This is the first casual restaurant that can actually cook I've seen in awhile.

Cool little spot for a bite to eat. Food was good, service was excellent. The building had life to it from years of patronage. I would recommend.

Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. The place is historic so it adds to the ambiance while dining here. Went here with my wife during lunch and it wasn't busy at all. We're from California so we would definitely come back if we're ever in town.

I'm probably putting this at four stars because of nostalgia. I'm just going to go with it. The fried pickles are kinda special, but pricy. Chicken tender dinner is great, add five huge shrimp for $5.00. Add some sweet potato fries for $3.00 more and you've got a feast. The kids got grilled chicken on a stick, tender and nice. We closed out with blackberry cobbler, I recommend you do the same.

Best dinner roll I've ever had. Fluffy, smooth, delicious. Frozen strawberry margarita was delicious as well. Fried catfish was really good, but the grilled pork chops were just ok. Very friendly service. Again, best dinner roll I have ever consumed. Also pretty good value overall.

If The romantic myth of the Western outlaw still remains central to American identity & the Oklahoma plains then the Old Plantation Restaurant is the epitome of American western romance. Which is why I decided to have the love of my life's birthday dinner here with all it's rich history, stunning beautiful location, and YES, AMAZING FOOD! What a night! My hubby's birthday dinner was superb in every way! I watched three servers and the manager, Angela serve the whole table of 25 perfectly without breaking a sweat! The perfectly made drinks were flowing as well as the wine, thanks to the wonderful bartender that never missed a beat! As the restaurant was totally packed I watched Angela, the manager, who looked exceptionally beautiful last night, bust tables herself with such grace and without a hair out of place! The service was incredible, from all our needs being taken care of, to letting me charge my dead phone behind the bar and putting up with us running around the restaurant like crazy it was just an amazing night! With all the other restaurant patrons and soldiers from nearby Ft. Sill that were dressed in their best uniforms the whole restaurant just became one giant shindig! It became a scene reincarnate of days gone by with soldiers, cowboys, pretty ladies, businessmen/birthday boys and locals all mixing, laughing, enjoying the splendid evening with fine food & drink! I had spoke to the chef weeks ago about the birthday dinner and the food and she is quite humble as well as quite passionate about the food and her service. I was obviously impressed. Fast forward couple weeks and here we are. The evening was stuff of "legend." The food, Oh, the food, ALL the food was incredible! It was ALL cooked perfectly. I mean PERFECTLY! I ordered a steak and I asked "how is your medium? Is it bloody bc I don't like bloody." My server says "well I will have her make it for you between medium and medium well" and the cartoon bubble over my head read "LOL" Sure enough the steak was put in front of me and it was indeed between medium and medium well. Astonishing. It was perfectly red in the center with no blood. Perfect just as I asked. I later heard my husband talking with Angela the manager at the front Desk telling her how fantastic his birthday dinner was and how he loved everything so much and that it was a birthday dinner he will never forget. Then he went on to talk about how the blackberry cobbler was so freaking amazballs that he wanted to bathe in the stuff! That might have been some Al Capone or Jessie James reincarnate talking or maybe the drinks lol yes it was time to make our "secret escape!" As we said our goodbyes and walked down the long outside covered porch to our car I couldn't help thinking of all the "legends" that wined, dined, and partied b4 us that must have stood right where we were, beautiful Mt. Scott and the sound of the flowing waters of medicine creek in the background, it was all so very romantic, and maybe it was a Bonnie & Clyde reincarnate moment but the rest of the night was, well, even more legendary ;) I just want to say thank you again Angela and to your whole staff for the most romantic and lovely evening it was stuff of "Legend" baby! And I especially want to say thank you to the chef. Lady, you got a bright future in this business. Your going to have a fantastic career. Your food, your service and your hospitality is unrivaled. It's stuff of "legend" bravo, bravo, bravo!

For 5-star quality food u don't wait long and the prices are great. The grilled cedar plank salmon was the best I've ever had and the yeast rolls were melt in your mouth good. Sweet potato fries, pickle-O's, and ribeye were also really good!

The last time I ate here was when I was in high school so, in my eyes, the place was just awesome coming back to it after all these years. The renovations were nice and I liked the atmosphere. My mom took my family here for dinner on a Sunday evening and it was nice not having to wait because they were not very busy. We all loved the food. The salads were tasty and my grilled chicken was cooked just right, not dry at all. My husband ordered the steak tips and he let me have a bite...they were cooked just right...not tough and leathery, but not bloody either. I noticed there were mostly teenagers working there (I have an aversion to teenagers other than my own), but our server was very attentive and we always had our drinks filled. The only complaint about hospitality I would have is that one of the hostesses just glanced at me, then ignored me when I tried to go to the cash register to pay since I guess she was too busy emptying the register for the night to pay attention to me. I finally got tired of standing there and glanced at my receipt...noticed that it said to pay your server (he never mentioned that) so I went back to the table to pay. Other than that, it was a nice evening. And I love how they've also renovated the outside down by the lake and turned it into a walking/swimming area. Next trip we make to Lawton, we will definitely be going back.

I had dinner at the Old Plantation, with one companion. Strike 1. Even though the place was at least half empty, we were positioned at a booth right next to the restroom doors. We moved ourselves to a better location. Strike 2. Attempts to make eye contact with waitresses fail. After we sit there for 10 minutes with not even a glass of water, the waitress we flag down is utterly surprised that we were not being helped yet. Strike 3. My catfish is good though a bit salty. The rice is too greasy, and the sweet potatoe is positively floating in butter. My companion's brisket looks so unappetizing that we send it back and change the order. The change is accomodated without any fuss. I'd try to avoid this place, but unfortunately there's not a lot of options in Medicine park.

The bartender was extremely rude while we were sitting at the bar waiting for a table. Then after we sat, the staff and manager were terrible and rude. We left before ordering food. Patron the Riverside Cafe instead.

We happened by on the way back from hiking in the park. Saw all the Motorcycles turning into medicine park. Always a good sign. I had the best Chicken fried steak that I have had in a long time. Everything was awesome. I would give it 5 stars but the, are few and far. If you are looking for a Mom and Pop that has stood the test of time. It has been there longer than Oklahoma has been a state! You can't go wrong here...

One of the oddities of military life is the "Hail and Farewell" dinner. This is when you and your new or old coworkers get together with your families to size one another up, greet new people, and say goodbye to old people. The same idea plays out at offices of all types, but the military has a constant rotation of people coming and going from a unit, and so there is a certain routine to these events. It was in this capacity that I was first introduced to the Old Plantation Restaurant, and I am happy to say that the service they provided for the 40 or so people who arrived in our group that night was well paced and pleasant. We had only one waitress, but with the help of a few runners she managed to get all of our food in front of us at roughly the same time. She even managed to remember the adjustments I asked for (no dressing, a plain burger instead of a bacon cheeseburger) and refilled my water glass. As for the food, well, I'm hoping that the three stars will rise when we return and sample more of the menu. Our limited menu choices were simple pub grub, easy to plate and set out for a crowd. Nearly everyone ordered a burger and fries, and I was sorry to not be one of them. I ordered the country fried steak with a side of green beans. The beans were overcooked and loaded with salt, and while the 5 oz. steak was perfectly cooked, it sat too heavy in my stomach over night, and through the next day. My son's burger, which looked to be larger than my steak, caused him no problems as he digested. My table mates tried the brisket sandwich (straight cut thick slices on a bun) and the grilled chicken (lightly grilled with lemon, served over rice pilaf with a side of mashed potatoes) and were happy with their choices. The interior is little more than a wide open space with a bar and a hostess stand, but there are plenty of windows and room to move about. I will say that the restaurant has the well worn (some might say grimy) look of a 100 year old building in a lakeside town in southwestern Oklahoma, but it fits with the charm of its surroundings. I look forward to returning to this casual restaurant. The full menu looks like it has quite a few options, though it is primarily a steakhouse. I'll probably return during the day so that I have time to take in the view as I digest.

Bacon burger was the best I've had in Oklahoma so far. The atmosphere was nice & nostalgic. The waitresses were very sweet and nice but service was a little slow. The price for three people and an appetizer was $50.

If you would typically order the portabelo mushroom pasta, DON'T come here. If you expect a 3" tall porter house with roasted blue cheese on top, DON'T come here. If you want a thinly sliced, perfectly cooked, rare fillet with a loaded baked potatoe, soft buttery roles, and a iceburg salad drenched in homemade ranch; come here! This place is an old school steak place. They serve them thin and perfectly cooked. The seasoning might be much for some, but I love the taste. The main dining room could use a spruce up, but then they would need to charge more than $20 for a steak...

I had the chicken fried chicken with green beans it was very moist! There was a 30 min wait but they have a sitting area with veggies, fruit, cookies, and tea so it wasn't so bad. I would go back for sure! I can't remember my servers name but he was young with a sleeve and lots of muscles he was very good and professional. Don't fill up on the yummy rolls :) in fact if your gonna eat here than skip breakfast! it is a lot of food.

My husband decided to try the Old Plantation after hearing a couple of good reviews from others however my experience was not good at all. We were sat under ac pipes which leaked onto our table and into our drinks and on our arms.. We moved ourselves to another table. I think that the food was overpriced. I ordered the steak tip with fried okra and sweet potatoes fries. My steak tip seemed to have been drenched in salt.. After a couple bites i couldn't eat anymore. The okra had a weird taste and the fries were soggy cold. I really did not enjoy this place.

Today my husband, in-laws, & I went to Medicine Park. Upon arriving we decided to get lunch at the Old Plantation Restaurant. The hostess was extremely friendly & the restaurant was very spacious. Our servers name was Stephen and he was excellent. He refilled our drinks without being asked, was extremely courteous, and was very personable. Prior to getting our meals we were served bread. It was warm & delicious. Oh, the honey butter was a nice touch too. I enjoyed the grilled chicken (seasoned with lemon pepper), sauteed squash & zucchini, & rice. It also came with a side salad. The portion of food was good for the price listed. If ever we go back to Medicine Park I will definitely go back to the Old Plantation Restaurant.

I went here for the first time last year and I'm not too sure if I will be coming back. I ordered the Cedar plank salmon with sweet potato fries and the shrimp on a bed of wild rice. Everything, for the exception of the fries, were overly salted and the wild rice was swimming in butter. Don't get me wrong, the salmon was cooked perfectly. It was flaky and juicy. The overload of which I guess was season salt completely killed a good meal. At least the fries were good. Oh, and if it's your birthday, you get a free slice of cake of your choosing and they will also sing for you.

Food was good. Service is excellent. Expect a 30-minute wait during lunch and early afternoon hours. Caution: Their rolls will stuff your appetite. Save your appetite for their 22 ounce steak!!!

I wanted to like the Plantation, I truly wanted to get a good burger and cocktail on the creek but, not here! The bar was pretty well stocked and with the open and rustic area it's an awesome setting right off the creek. Burger was cold and seriously under cooked with a musty smelling bun that was about one day away from turning green. I won't be back, sorry y'all I'll keep looking.

I really wanted to like this place. It was just OK. I noticed a lot of families so maybe it's a nice place for locals. Nothing about it makes me want to go back the next time I'm in town. One of the people I was with had to have their steak sent back because he asked for medium and it was more well done than mine--which was medium well.

Do not go here! If I could hand out a zero for this place I would. I had spent a glorious Tuesday hiking Mt. Scott and the wildlife refuge and decided to end my trip in medicine park with good food. I didn't get a very good ending. This place seemed to be the only thing open on a Tuesday late afternoon so I went in. I stood there for about 5 minutes until the hostess came by and asked how many. I replied "just me," and she paused before just walking away so I followed her to a booth. There were a few families there but the place is very spaced out and so it looks bare. The bar area is just sad. I was seated and handed a menu that smelled like it had been thrown in a dirty lake and it had a black stain on half of it, and no silverware. The waitress finally made it over (I guess they were jam packed) about 10 minutes later to ask what I wanted to drink. I just got water. Another 10 minutes go by before my water arrives in the grossest looking plastic cup I've ever seen. It had chips all around the side and it was so dingy my water looked like milk. I asked her for another minute. The menu is small and almost everything was $11. Even the house salad. Weird. I was going to go ahead and get the burger (you guessed it, $11) but I just sat there. No waitress. There plenty of them running around and the owner (I'm guessing) was walking around folding napkins and busy work. So I got up and left. As I was leaving a waiter stopped me and asked if my order had been taken. "No, that's why I'm leaving." He offered to take it for me but I said no thank you and promptly left Medicine Park to find food back in good old OKC. I was shocked. This town has such character. This restaurant did not.

Although it has a great look about it and is in a perfect location, the service is really off..... Started with drinks at the bar and the bartender physically left the bar to take a call and didn't come back for about 20 min, meanwhile myself and 10 of my partners stood around damn near throwing money at anyone that would get us a beer. Moved to the main dining area and ordered a steak medium....got it well done on the edges and med in the middle. The restaurant is in a great locale with a wonderful little town around it... You'd think they'd figure it out....

Since moving to the Medicine Park area, this is a regular stop for me. Good quality food and good prices, friendly and accommodating wait staff, and it's across the street from the lovely bath area in Medicine Park. Love that they're open 7 days.

The service was a bit slow, and it was hard to find, but the food was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was great, very friendly. All in all, the food was worth the wait! I definitely recommend this place!

My boyfriend and I wanted a mixed drink in Medicine Park and this is the only place to get a mixed beverage. We came in on Friday night and the main bartender had gone home for the evening. The kid behind the bar helped us out with a simple drink but was stumped by our fancy request for a rum runner. He was quickly bailed out by Lisa. Her shift was more than over and after a long day she jumped up and fixed us a couple of drinks! She was a gem! We ended the night having a beer with her at the beer bar down the road. I was so impressed with her friendliness. We decided to try the food on Saturday for lunch. We both had the chicken fried steak and it was delicious! We should have shared it because it was huge! The dinner rolls were sooooo good also. Tyler was our waiter (the young guy from last night) and Lisa waved hello as she hurried by to tend to her tables. The service here was so great and everyone was friendly. We were told to have a good day so many times on our way out. I was blown away by this restaurant and will be back again!

Had high expectations for this place based on the OK tourism guide. Basically it was the only restaurant in town so clientele is guaranteed. I had a pretty basic quesadilla with questionable salsa that seemed old as hell and my husband had a basic cheeseburger. The blackberry cobbler was so sweet and the ice cream was melted. When seated table was soaking wet and we had to ask for a napkin to wipe it down. The saving grace is this place has air conditioning and is open on a Sunday.

This is the place that local Lawton'ers recommend for that home style cooking and they are right. The restaurant is located in an area called Medicine Park, probably one of my favorite things about Lawton. It's a little pocket of quite goodness. The Old Plantation is the biggest thing there and I guess with the most history having opened in 1910 (taking my husband's word on this since he was the one reading their story). The food was huge, and left you with that "yikes, I feel guilty, wait not really" feeling. My husband had the fried chicken and I had the fried steak, with mash potatoes. Clearly we didn't have a care in the world that night. Meals come with a massive salad so pace yourself! But what made me fall in love with the place was our waitress Connie. OMG I totally fell in love with her. Such kindness and warmth. This is the type of hospitality we out in California hear about. PS For the ladies, not sure why but they have a little jewelry section by the cashier. Conveniently, I skipped the dessert and bought myself a bracelet. ;)

Neat place if you want some drinks or BBQ/fish food. Their loaded sweet potato fries are delicious. They have lots of room inside and are very nice. Located in the center of Historic Wichita it's a good spot to eat for the whole family.
